The lawyers for the ace investigative journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas have indicated that their client may choose to testify as a prosecution witness or not against former GFA boss, Kwesi Nyantakyi.
This comes after the supreme court ordered the journalist to appear in court without his usual face covering.
Kwesi Nyantakyi is standing trial for corruption and fraud after the release of the “Number 12” expose which saw the former GFA boss and other football officials involved in football-related corruption.
The initial witness, Ahmed Suale who was one of the journalists concerning the documentary was murdered before he could testify against Kwesi Nyantakyi.
As a result, Anas agreed to testify only in camera or in chambers which was initially agreed by the High Court 2, Criminal Division but was quashed by the supreme after lawyers of Nyantakyi appealed to the supreme court.
According to a press statement by Cromwell Gray LLP, the public should disregard the false reportage that Anas has been ordered by the Supreme Court to appear in court without his trademark face beads.
The statement further added that Anas and his Tiger Eye team will continue to wear the iconic face beads as a symbol of impartial anonymity in investigative journalism.
