Black Stars captain, Andre Ayew, has apologized for the recent poor form of the national team, asking Ghanaians to stay calm as they work to recover.
The Black Stars have recorded only one victory in their last 10 games in all competitions including a loss and a draw to Nigeria and Uganda in their last international friendly games in March this year.
In an interview with the media after their league game over the weekend on France, Andre Ayew said the team and the entire nation must have patience, expressing optimism of a turnaround.
“I think we need to stay calm. A lot of things have happened and there is not much to be said at the moment. For me, I’ve been in the team for a long time so we need to stay calm and learn from what went right and wrong and keep working very hard to make our nation very proud because it is something very special.
“But we cannot hide behind the fact that the results lately has not been the best, and we’re sorry for that but I know that it’s part of the game. Football is like a cycle, you have moments. We were on top for about 10 to 12 years but now it’s other people but we need to keep working harder. We have the talent and the players, it’s just a matter of time and a little bit of luck for things to switch around,” he stressed.
Due to Ghana’s abysmal performances lately, they are ranked 68th in FIFA world rankings, while they place 14th in Africa.
