Former captain of the Black Stars, Asamoah Gyan, has extolled Andre Ayew, describing him as a legend for Ghana.
According to Gyan, Ayew has given his all to the country in terms of playing for the various national teams of the country.
He was speaking in reaction to Coach Otto Addo’s decision to omit him from the Black Stars squad ahead of the FIFA 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Mali and Central Africa Republic.
Whiles Gyan admitted that he would not be happy if he was in his position, he suggested that the former Marseille man accepted the decision.
“For me, Andre has done so much for Ghana. He started way back in 2007 and he has been consistent in the national team. He’s the most capped player. I played with Andre and he has done everything for Ghana but this is the situation where we have to move on because it is the coach’s decision.
“If it was me, I won’t be happy, which is a normal thing but at the end of the day, the coach has made his decision but we shouldn’t forget Andre is already a legend,” he told Joy FM.
He added that “Andre knows how to handle situations like this. He won’t be happy for now as time goes on, it will be fine.”
The 34-year-old has been in a fine form for French League 1 side, Le Havre in the just ended season, making 17 appearances and scoring five goals.
