The Anlo Dukor Council has formally petitioned the Speaker of Parliament to identify and hold accountable the Member of Parliament who allegedly directed defamatory and obscene words at Hon. Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings during the approval session of vetted ministers on Tuesday, February 4, 2025.
The petition, submitted by the Awadada of Anlo Dukor on behalf of Awoamefia Togbi Sri III and the Chiefs and people of Anlo, condemns the remark, reportedly heard by Ghanaians watching and listening to the proceedings.
The offensive words, “Shut up – you daughter of a murderer,” were allegedly aimed at Zanetor Rawlings, the daughter of former President Jerry John Rawlings.
The incident occurred amid a heated parliamentary exchange involving Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, which drew widespread attention.
Following public outrage, initial reports suggested that MPs Hon. Abu Jinapor (MP for Damango) and Hon. Nana Kwame Asafo-Adjei (MP for Bosome Freho) might have been responsible for the remark. However, both lawmakers have denied any involvement.
The Anlo Dukor Council is urging the Speaker of Parliament to investigate and reveal the identity of the MP responsible for the alleged insult.
The Council emphasized the importance of maintaining decorum in Ghana’s legislative processes and ensuring that elected representatives uphold ethical standards in their conduct.
