Families could not hold back their tears as twelve teens who drowned in the sea at Apam finally buried.
A mass burial service was held for all twelve teenagers after the Gomoa Akyemepim Traditional Council on Monday, March 15, 2021 sacrificed One cow, three sheep,12 fowls and 33 tubers of yam, and three cartons of schnapps were offered to appease the gods of the land.
One of the victims was buried earlier because the recovered body was badly decomposed.
The victims, aged between 13 and 17 years old, were reported to have used an illegal route by a lagoon to avoid being noticed by fishermen at Apam beach to get to the other side of the beach to swim.
Report says they were swept away by a strong wave and drowned.
There were three survivors from the incident who received treatment at the St Luke Catholic Hospital in Apam.
This was done when the President commiserated with the bereaved families through the Minister for fisheries.
