The President of the Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has disclosed that, government’s decision to implement visa free policy will commence this year.
He made this known during the second edition of Africa Prosperity Dialogue on Thursday, January 25, 2024 at the Peduase Presidential Lodge at Aburi Hills in the Eastern region of Ghana, dubbed Delivering Prosperity in Africa: Produce, Add value, Trade.
Delivering his address, President Akufo-Addo said, “The Parliament of Ghana is committed in ensuring a visa free for all Africans traveling to our country and the process has begun to get the policy implemented this year”.
According to the President, this will boost the trade market in both private and government sector, thereby, generating more revenue for the nation due to excessive raw resources in Africa
The Secretary-general of Africa Continental Free Trade Area (AFCFTA), His Excellency Wamkele Mene is of the view that, comparing the government and private sector, the private sector trades more, that is why AFCFTA, was establish to create a trade market.
“ It is the private sector that trades, that is why we have developed the private sector strategy identifying sectors such as agriculture, pharmaceutical, health, transportation and logistics which covers, establish and create a market”, he added.
His Excellency Wamkele Mene further noted that, through partnership with key stakeholders, necessary resources will be mobilized to create a liberalized market for goods and services through successive rounds of negotiations thus, fulfilling the dream of AFCFTA.
