A bloody attack on the residents of Dompin Pepesa in the Tarkwa-Nsuaem Municipality in the Western Region has led to two persons severely injured.
The two persons sustained gunshot wounds when armed men stormed the town and started firing guns indiscriminately.
According to an eyewitness, about 20 armed men stormed the Dompin Pepesa community, shooting at every direction their gun pointed whiles they headed towards the Chief’s Palace.
Explaining the incident to the media, the eyewitness made it known that, a resident of the community was allegedly spotted on small scale mining site belonging to the armed men.
He said “a group of people known as the Kumkums accused a man of trying to take over their mining site, the accused is believed to reside at the chief’s palace but during the whole incident, the chief had travelled to a funeral.”
The eyewitness said when the ‘macho’ men spotted the accused person, they began to pursue him whiles he runs towards the chief’s palace for cover.
The heavily armed men were shooting indiscriminately and one of the residents was hit in the chest by the stray bullet.
The victim was rushed to the government hospital in Tarkwa and he is receiving treatment, whiles the accused also suffered a fractured skull after the armed men strike his head with a stick.
