Ghana’s all-time leading scorer Asamoah Gyan has said he is taking steps to become a coach with his focus on training strikers of the Black Stars.
The 36-year-old is currently clubless after after leaving Ghana Premier League side Legon Cities at the end of last season.
However, with his career coming to an end, Gyan has plans of becoming a coach.
“I’d like to handle the Black Stars as a strikers coach, but everything takes time. First, I need to work on my coaching course, and I’m due to begin in June or July, after that we’ll see,” Gyan told Accra based Citi FM.
Asamoah Gyan is on a media tour ahead of the launch of his maiden memoir on April 30, 2021.
The former Sunderland striker is yet to hang up his boots but has stated his desire of playing for Asante Kotoko before calling it a quit.
“I would like to play for Asante Kotoko if I have to return [to playing football again]. I am a huge fan of the club,” he told Joy FM in an earlier interview.
Gyan is the country’s top goal scorer with 51 goals having played in 2006, 2010, and 2014 World Cup in Germany, South Africa, and Brazil respectively.
