Ghana’s Parliament has officially released a statement, confirming the detention of the Member of Parliament for Asante Akyem North Constituency, Mr. Kwame Ohene Frimpong, at Schiphol Airport in Amsterdam, Netherlands.
According to an official statement issued by the Clerk to Parliament, Mr. Ebenezer Ahumah Djietror, the incident has drawn the immediate attention of the Rt. Hon. Speaker and the Leadership of the House. Authorities have since initiated contact with Ghana’s diplomatic mission in The Hague to obtain detailed information surrounding the circumstances of the detention.

Former operative of the Bureau of National Investigations (BNI), Richard Kumadoe, during an interview on Ghana tonight on TV3 indicated that the one of the charges that may be leveled against the lawmaker could Money Laundering.
Close sources in the security services say the the MP is being investigated over alleged financial crimes including money laundering and suspected ‘romance scam’, involving an estimated cash amount of $32m.
