The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Christian Tetteh Yohuno, has praised the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, describing him as a modern-day King Solomon in recognition of his wisdom, calm leadership, and contribution to national peace and unity.

The commendation was made during the Asantehene’s historic visit to the Ghana Police Service Headquarters in Accra on Tuesday, January 6, where traditional authority and law enforcement leadership met to deepen collaboration.

According to the IGP, Otumfuo’s moral authority, patience, and balanced approach to conflict resolution have played a crucial role in resolving some of Ghana’s most complex and long-standing disputes.

Mr. Yohuno highlighted the Asantehene’s mediation in the Dagbon chieftaincy crisis, as well as his interventions in Yendi and the protracted Bawku conflict, noting that these peace-building efforts have significantly supported police operations and strengthened public trust in national security.

“Your exceptional mediation skills, which have restored peace in numerous conflicts across our nation, compel me to describe you as the King Solomon of our time,” the IGP said.

The tribute underscores the critical role of traditional leadership in conflict resolution and national stability, and the enduring partnership between the Ghana Police Service and revered traditional authorities.
