Drama unfolded at dawn on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, at the Sekesua Police Station in the Upper Manya Krobo District of the Eastern Region after a police patrol team intercepted a truck carrying more than 100 sacks of substances suspected to be Indian hemp.

The three officers from the Eastern Regional Command, acting on intelligence, swooped in on a Hyundai 5-ton truck (ER 760-23) and directed it to the Sekesua Police Station to process the suspects.

However, upon arrival at the station, the suspects reportedly placed a call to the Asesewa District Police Commander, Superintendent Francis Ackah, who later appeared and ordered the arrest and detention of the patrol officers instead.

The unusual turn of events prompted the Eastern Regional Police Operations Commander, ASP Kofi Okyere, to rush to the Asesewa Police Station to secure the release of his men.

Sources told Citi News that Superintendent Ackah refused to release the intercepted truck, insisting he would personally report to the Regional Commander, DCOP Twumasi Ankrah, on the matter.

The two suspects, identified as Sulley Abubakari and Sadat, allegedly told the patrol team they were transporting the consignment from Akateng to Agogo on the instructions of a man known only as “Alhaji” in Accra. Their current whereabouts remain unknown.

The incident has reportedly sparked unrest within the Eastern Regional Police Command, with officers calling on the police hierarchy to launch a thorough investigation into the matter.
