Police have arrested six suspects in connection with the killing of military personnel at Ashaiman in Accra, with the suspects expected to appear in court today, Monday, March 13, 2023.
According to the police, the deceased visited a female friend on March 3, 2023, around 10:30 pm, and left her place at around 1:30 am on March 4, 2023.
Police investigations however established that the military officer was attacked by two suspects, Samuel Tetteh alias Wiper and Abubakar Sadick alias Birdman, who in a move to rob the officer of his phone and backpack, stabbed him in the arm after he struggled with them.
Other suspects who have been arrested include Safianu Musah alias Dayorgu, Ibrahim Abdul Rakib, Yussif Mohammed, and Abdul Gafaru Abdul Karim.
Further investigations revealed that the main suspects sold the phone which they took from the deceased, which led to the arrest of all the others.
Exsanguination and laceration of major vessels in the left arm were found by pathologists to be the primary causes of death following an autopsy, which is consistent with having been stabbed.
Meanwhile, the police have said all suspects will be arraigned before the court today.
“We would like to assure the public, especially the family of the deceased, that all the suspects are in police custody and will be put before court on Monday, 13th March 2023, to face justice”, police said in a press statement.
