The principal elders of the Akwaanor Royal Family of Ashalaja in the Ga West Municipality in the Greater Region have served notice to the general public to cease from transacting any business with one Ismila Armah Quansah who parade himself as the head of the Akwaanor family.
According to the substantive head of the Akwaanor Family, Mr Solomon Mintah Ackaah, the said Ismila Armah Quansah is an ‘imposter’ and has not been appointed head of the royal family.
Speaking at a press conference in Accra, Mr Ackaah said the principal elders of the Akwaanor Royal Family appointed him on July 9, 2009, as the head of family.
He said immediately his appointment, one Adams Addy and his brother Adu Akwaanor held themselves as joint heads of the family even though they were not appointed by the principal elders.
“As it stands now, I am the head of the Akwaanor family of Ashalaja and at all material time the family is only headed by one person,” he stated
Mr Ackaah disclosed that because some people were parading themselves as heads of the family, “I instituted a court action against them, the court presided over by Justice Doris Bempong (Mrs) in her ruling on December 5, 2018, dismissed the counterclaims of the defendant.”
He said after the High Court ruling, the defendant appealed the decision of the court and on June 25, 2020, the Appeals Court presided over by Justice Amadu Tanko, Justice Barbra F Ackah-Yensu and Justice Anthony Oppong again dismissed their appeal.
The head of family said Adams Addy and Adu Akwaanor did not end there but went a step further to the Supreme Court and their appeal was dismissed again.
He said after exhausting all these platforms to discount his legitimacy, one Ismila Armah Quansah who at the trial before the High Court was a witness to Adams Addy and Adu Akwaanor disputing the headship of “my predecessors Nii Bornal Ackaah and Daniel Quao Ntadu are not royal of the Akwaanor family.”
“I wish to state it categorically that the said Ismila Armah Quansah has not been appointed as the head of the Akwaanor Royal Family and that neither myself nor the principal elders or kingmakers who appointed me participated in any meeting called for the purported appointment of the self-style head of family,” he stated
Mr Ackaah said the activities of Ismila Armah Quansah and his cohorts are illegal, deceptive, fraudulent and may result in the breach of peace in the area.
“I want to bring to the notice of the general public and all Ghanaians especially potential land developers to desist transacting any business or whatsoever with Ismila Armah Quansah or do it at their own risk,” he added.
The head of family therefore call on the Inspector General of Police to monitor the activities of the self-imposed family head and his cohorts in the area.
