The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Constituency chairman for the Ayawaso-West-Wuogon in the Greater Accra Region, Mr. Bismark Aborbi-Ayitey, has been suspended by the party for misconduct.
Following a breach of the party’s constitution as amended at the 9th Congress, Mr. Aborbi-Ayitey has been suspended by the Greater Accra NDC.
The duration of the suspension is set at six months, and the citation for the decision points to a violation of both Article 48(8) and 49(c).
Announcing his suspension, the Greater Accra Regional Secretary of the party, Theophilus Tetteh Chaie said the decision is attributed to his involvement with internal party affairs in the media.
“Mr. Aborbi-Ayitey’s conduct is viewed as a violation of party protocols. Pursuant to article 48(1) of the party’s disciplinary procedures, he has been referred to the Regional Disciplinary Committee for additional inquiry,” Mr. Tetteh Chaie stated
During the course of the next six months, Mr. Aborbi-Ayitey is to be prohibited from taking part in any party-related events or assuming any official role within the NDC due to his suspension.
Meanwhile the Greater Accra regional Chairman of the party, Mr. Emmanuel Nii Ashie Moore has declared the suspension null and void
In a statement, Mr. Nii Ashie Moore clarified that all agenda and crucial decisions should have been forwarded to him by mail or on WhatsApp for his inputs and directives, as stated in a memo to the Regional Executive Committee.
But since it did not comply with the directives of his memo, he has declared the suspension invalid.
