The Ghana Police Service has interdicted a police officer captured in a viral video assaulting a reporter during the Ablekuma North Parliamentary re-run election held on Friday, July 11, 2025.
In an official statement signed by ASP Richmond Mensah on behalf of the Director of Public Affairs, the Service confirmed that the officer involved has been withdrawn from the ongoing election duties.
“In line with internal disciplinary procedures, he has been interdicted and referred to the Police Professional Standards Bureau (PPSB) for investigation,” the statement said.
The Police further assured the public of a thorough and impartial probe into the incident and pledged to provide additional updates as the investigation progresses.
The Ghana Police Service reaffirmed its commitment to upholding professionalism and respecting the rights of all individuals, including members of the media, especially during electoral exercises.
