The Assin Fosu District Court presided over by his lordship Abdul Majid has remanded 6 accused persons into police custody and to reappear on 9th July 2021.
The police prosecutor inspector Gilbert Anyongo on 24th June 2021, told the court that, the accused persons are Mansuru Tanko, 30 trader at Assin fosu, Sani Mohamaed, 26year student Assin Manso senior high school, Francis Boamah, 26years Alias Bawah farmer Assin Foso, Mutakilu Iddrisu, 21years Student at Assin fosu National Vocational Training Instituted, Abubakar Garriba, 20years, unemployed and Saddique Abubakar, 21year scraps dealer.
According to police prosecutor, the Assin Fosu Divisional Police command mapped up strategy measures to flash out criminal activities within its juridiction on 24th June 2021.
As part of the police measures to stop crime in the area which was led by Inspector Johnson Kpeglo Dzikunu and a team of uniform and plain cloth personnel from the command, to swoop on suspected criminal hideouts in Assin Foso.
The exercise took the team three (3) different suburbs including Zongo, where they arrested 1 accused Mansuru Tanko with forty one (41) wraps of whitish powdery substance suspected to be narcotic drug , 2nd accused Sani Mohammed, Francis Boamah alias Bawa, Mutakilu lddrisu and Abubakar Gariba who had unlawfully gathered under a makeshift wooden structure at a bushy area.
They tried to run away but the team arrested them and instantly subjected them to bodily searches leading to the recovery of the named exhibits from the custody of the 1 accused. The team therefore escorted the accused persons with the exhibit to the police station to assist further investigation.
On the same day, the team arrested 6th accused-Abubakar Siddique at Pump Site, elsewhere Assin Foso, who has produced a video of him and posted same on WhatsApp and other social media platforms with it’s abusive and insulting contents directed at personnel from the Command.
Although, he denied being the author of the viral video, moreover investigation proved him wrong accused persons were consequently charged with the respective offences and arraigned before court.
After hearing his Lordship Abdul Majid remanded the six(6) accused into police custody to reappear on 9th July 2021.
