Counting is currently underway in Assin North in a by-election to elect a new Member of Parliament for the constituency.
Voting officially ended at 5 p.m. at various voting centers in Tuesday’s by-election in the Assin North by-election, with heavy security presence in all 99 polling centers.
The two main political parties, the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), have all put in various efforts to annex the parliamentary seat.
The NDC has retained Gyakye Quayson as its candidate though he is facing criminal charges over his 2020 Candidature.
The NPP and the Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG) have Mr Charles Opoku and Catherine Enyonam as their respective candidates.
The turnout, according to the electoral commission officer, was high.
