The Member of Parliament for Atiwa West, Laurette Korkor Asante, has distributed mathematical sets to final-year Junior High School students preparing for this year’s Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).

The donation, which covered all 46 public and private JHSs in the constituency, is part of the MP’s annual education support initiative aimed at easing the burden on parents and boosting candidates’ confidence ahead of the exams.

Presenting the items at a brief ceremony in Akrofu, the NPP Atiwa West Youth Organizer, Clement Asare, who spoke on behalf of the MP said, the gesture was to ensure that no candidate lacks the basic tools needed to write the Mathematics and Science papers.

“BECE is a crucial stepping stone for our children. A simple math set should not be the reason any student fails to answer a question. This is our small way of investing in their future,” the he stated.
“Today, we’ve distributed 1,450 mathematical sets. And we’re convinced that this will help the candidates prepare in their exam”,

In addition to the math sets, the MP’s office organized a one-day motivational and exam-prep session for the candidates, led by experienced teachers and WAEC examiners. Topics included time management, answering techniques, and exam-day conduct.
District Education Director for Atiwa West commended the MP for the timely support and urged other stakeholders to emulate the initiative. She cautioned candidates against exam malpractice and encouraged them to remain focused.

Headteachers and students who received the items expressed gratitude, noting that some parents struggle to afford basic learning materials. In all, 1,450, candidates benefited from the intervention across the district.
The BECE is scheduled to begin nationwide next week Monday.
