The Atwima Traditional Council has called on the government to revoke the contract awarded to the contractor working on the Denchembuso-Techiman road, which connects to Atwima Boko, Twedie and Ofoase, with immediate effect.
According to them, the contractor Asaabea Construction has abandoned the site for the past eight years, leading to further deterioration of the road.
Speaking to Citi news, Chief Linguist for Atwimahene Nana Tieku Owusu Ansah II expressed his frustration, stating that the chiefs have lost patience after years of excuses and delays from the contractor.
The chiefs and elders staged a protest against Asaabea Construction, the contractor responsible for the major road project connecting communities across the Kwadaso and Atwima Kwanwoma districts.
According to them, the once-promising road has now deteriorated into a death trap, riddled with deep potholes, erosion, and pools of stagnant muddy water that endanger motorists and pedestrians alike.
They also accused the contractor of disrespecting the traditional authorities in the area.
