The 2020 Presidential candidate of the Ghana Union Movement, Rev. Christian Kwabena Andrew has said, the Ghana government needs to set up a criminal investigative task force to investigate the personal bank accounts of all government appointees and civil servants from 2016 till date.
He said the task force should be mandated to enquire and trace every single piece of information about the sources of their questionable income.
According to the man of God, he has a strong belief that the current economic hardship we are being confronted with has come as a result of corrupt related practices being perpetrated by some top politicians, government appointees, and other civil servants.
Mr. Andrew is of the view that if those personal bank accounts are put on serious surveillance it will accrue more revenue to the government than the useless proposed Electronic Transaction Levy.
He was quick to add that if anyone is found with money in his or her personal bank accounts overweighs the statutory earnings that person should be made to answer questions that could lead to a prosecution process to retrieve the money back to the State.” If anyone says it’s a gift, that person should be forced by law to disclose the sources of the said gift.”
“Starting from the president and his appointees, including police and customs those at borderlines, ports and harbours.”
