The Awutu Senya East Municipal Assembly has served a final ultimatum to merchants occupying portions of the old market in Kasoa, ordering them to vacate the premises.

The directive, according to the authorities, is to facilitate a major redevelopment project. Led by Nana Adeiso IV, a task force conducted a site visit to enforce the directive, cautioning that demolition works will commence shortly without further notice.

This development follows an earlier deadline of March 27, which was extended to allow traders to operate during the Easter festivities.

Having granted a period of grace, the Assembly now expects all affected merchants to comply forthwith.

The Assembly asserts that alternative trading spaces have been arranged at the Kasoa Iron City Market, where displaced traders can relocate and continue their commercial activities.

Officials confirm that the facility is ready for occupation and strategically located near the Kasoa Central Business District.

In an interview with the media, Nana Adeiso IV reiterated the Assembly’s commitment to the redevelopment plan, emphasising its role in modernising market infrastructure and stimulating economic growth within the municipality.

He advised traders against engaging individuals who claim to halt the eviction process in exchange for monetary gratification, assuring that the exercise will proceed as scheduled and urging full cooperation to preclude confrontations.
