The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has suspended its Awutu Senya East Constituency Chairman, Mr Stephen Ofosu Agyare, from office for a period of five months with immediate effect.

The decision was taken by the party’s Functional Executive Committee (FEC) during its meeting on 21st July 2026, following a petition lodged against him by the Member of Parliament for Awutu Senya East, Phillis Naa Koryoo Okunor.

According to an official letter signed by the General Secretary of the party, Hon. Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, the disciplinary action also follows recommendations contained in a report submitted by the Central Regional Council of Elders.

“Having extensively deliberated on the matter, FEC found sufficient basis to invoke the provisions of Article 48(4) and Article 48(6) of the Party’s Constitution,” the letter stated.

The FEC has further referred the case to the National Disciplinary Committee for investigation and appropriate action in accordance with the regulations of the party.

“During the period of your suspension, you are required to refrain from performing any functions or exercising any authority as Constituency Chairman until the matter is finally determined or otherwise directed by the Party,” the General Secretary indicated.

Copies of the MP’s petition and the findings from the Central Regional Council of Elders have been attached to the formal communication served to Mr Agyare.
