The governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) has replaced Mahama Ayariga with Inusah Fuseini as a member of the three-member committee investigating alleged vote-buying allegations in the Ayawaso East parliamentary primary.
General Secretary Fiifi Fiavi Kwetey stated that the party had taken this decision following the stance Ayariga had adopted on the matter.
In a statement issued by Mahama Ayariga on behalf of the Majority Caucus, they called for the annulment of the election and disqualification of all individuals found to have distributed money or items from contesting again.
Given this development, the party deemed it necessary to replace him on the committee to avoid undermining the probe.
Mr. Kwetey assured that the NDC remains committed to upholding the highest integrity in its internal electoral process.
The statemwbt read “The NDC has appointed former MP and Minister, Hon. Inusah Fuseini to replace Hon Mahama Ayariga on the committee investigating the reported vote buying incidents in the Ayawaso East Primaries.
Hon Ayariga had to step down because his position on the Committee became untenable following the declared position of the majority caucus .
The party remains committed to upholding the highest integrity its internal electoral process.”
