The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Banda, in the Bono Region, Hon. Emmanuel Akoneh has supported people living with disabilities (PwDs) in his area.
The DCE donated items to the PwDs as part of the District Assembly’s share of the common fund from the government.
The items include 19 deep freezers, 8 Spraying machines, cosmetics, two fufu pounding machines, and Farm inputs (gear boots, insecticides, weedicides, etc.).
According to Hon. Emmanuel Akoneh, the donation is aimed at equipping them to earn a living despite the challenges. He added an undisclosed amount of money to the donations.
At the ceremony to hand over the items to the beneficiaries at the Banda District Assembly auditorium, Hon. Akoneh disclosed that the purpose was in line with support from the government and was in the conviction it will go a long way to improve the living conditions of the disabled.
Additionally, he had paid for the tuition of seven people living with disabilities in university.
On his part, the President of the Banda Federation of Disabilities, Mr Richard Kumi Fofie thanked the DCE and the District Assembly for the kind gesture.
He also advised the beneficiaries to make good use of the items.
