A portion of the boys’ dormitory at Don Bosco Technical Institute in Odumasi in Sunyani West Municipality of the Bono Region has been razed by fire, on Wednesday morning.
The outbreak which is said to have started around 10:15 am, spread faster destroying the properties of students.
According to reports, the school authorities resorted to reinforcement from firefighters to douse the flame due to its severity.
ADO2 Innocent Dodzi Amagnoh, who was the fire officer said, they had a call indicating that, the said school is in flames, he and his men rushed to the scene at 11:46 am, to ensure they’ve put off the fire but according to him the fire was too excessive so they called for reinforcement before they were able to quench the fire.
“We will thank some group of people we came and met at the scene, because they aid us rescue one school girl who was at the dormitory at the time the fire guts into dormitory, he added.
“I received a call from one of my staff that , there’s a fire outbreak at Hostel B in the school where the boys stays , I tried to contact the Vice of academic because he stays here with the students but I couldn’t reached him , I rushed to his office and he wasn’t there , I tried to get to the scene ,when I got the whole school was engulfed by fire , but unfortunately a daughter of the Vice principal was in the dormitory when the fire guts into the dormitory but the people around aided in rescuing her from the dormitory and she was rushed to hospital” , Rev. Father Robertson stated.
“After the fire was put off we went to the hospital to see her , she’s responding to treatment although she some burns at the back” he added.
The cause of the fire outbreak is currently unknown.
