A restaurant and some shops at Nkrankwanta in the Dormaa West District of the Bono Region have been burnt to ashes.
According to Doris, the owner of the restaurant, the fire outbreak happened around 1:45 am on Tuesday, February 28, 2023.
She added, there was a heavy downpour in the middle of the night when she was returning from a trip.
As a result of the heavy downpour the lights were going on and off (Dumsor) and the next thing she heard was people shouting for help.
“That was how the fire started,” Doris told Republic Press
Some items which were destroyed include; Motor spare parts, fridges, gas burners, cylinders, Drinks etc.
Doris also recounted that the assemblyman for the area Hon Usif Issah was at the scene in the early hours of the day and promised to get back to them after meeting with the District Chief Executive and other authorities.
The cause of the fire is not yet known since the fire service office at Dormaa west is yet to be completed for fire officers to work effectively.
Efforts made to reach the assemblyman have proved unsuccessful.
