A tragic road accident at Wenchi Nkonsia in the Bono Region has claimed three lives.
The incident occurred around 9:00 a.m. on Thursday when a Rhino truck, reportedly loaded with cashew and traveling from Techiman to Wenchi, ran over a Daewoo Matiz carrying three passengers—two men and a woman.
Eyewitnesses at the scene said the truck appeared to have suffered a brake failure, causing the driver to lose control and crash into the smaller vehicle.
Residents and bystanders were left in shock as the victims succumbed to their injuries on the spot.
“It happened in an instant. The truck just plowed over the car, and there was nothing anyone could do,” an eyewitness recounted.
This tragic accident comes just a day after a similar crash at Duayaw Nkwanta, where four people lost their lives in a collision.
Road accidents have been on the rise in Ghana, with many attributing the growing crisis to poorly maintained roads, inadequate road signs, and reckless driving.
The stretch between Wenchi and Techiman, for instance, has been criticized for lacking essential road signage beyond speed ramp indicators.
