The Bono Regional Police Command has apprehended a 43-year-old man, Yaw Owusu, also known as ‘Angolo,’ for allegedly fatally stabbing his younger brother during a dispute in Awerempe, a suburb of Berekum West Municipality.

Police reports indicate that the incident took place on Friday, November 7, 2025, around 10:30 a.m., when a heated argument erupted between Yaw Owusu and his 25-year-old brother, Bright Abotsi.

During the confrontation, Yaw Owusu reportedly stabbed his brother in the chest with a knife. Bright Abotsi was rushed to Holy Family Hospital in Berekum, but the attending medical officer pronounced him dead on arrival.

Investigations showed that the suspect attempted to flee the scene but was quickly captured by police officers.

The deceased was later found at the hospital lying on a stretcher, wearing blood-soaked boxer shorts and with a deep wound on the upper right side of his chest.

His body has been deposited at the hospital morgue for autopsy as authorities continue their investigations.

Chief Inspector Thomas Akeelah, the Bono Regional Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed the arrest and assured the public that justice will be served.
