The Queen Mother of Namasua in the Berekum Traditional Area of the Bono Region, Nana Adwoa Owusuaa II, has raised concerns over the growing presence of Fulani herdsmen in the area, calling on the government to intervene.
According to her, the uncontrolled activities of the nomadic herdsmen and their cattle have led to the widespread destruction of farmlands and properties, posing a serious threat to the livelihoods of local farmers.
She lamented that despite several attempts by the community to drive them away, the herdsmen have remained uncooperative.
Speaking on the issue, Nana Adwoa Owusuaa II stressed the need for authorities to regulate cattle grazing while recognizing that animal rearing is an essential part of agriculture.
She, however, emphasized that it must not come at the expense of farmers whose lands and crops are being destroyed.
The queen mother urged the government to take decisive action to restore peace and protect the agricultural activities that sustain the local economy.
