Tragedy struck the Yawusukrom community in the Dormaa West District on Thursday, November 6, 2025, when the lifeless body of a pregnant woman, identified only as Haiga, was discovered on her family’s new farm.

The deceased, believed to be about 33 years old and eight months pregnant, reportedly left home earlier in the day to harvest okra but never returned.

According to her husband, Elder Kumbur Bright, popularly known as Elder Bright, he arrived home around 6:00 p.m. and asked Haiga’s younger sister who was unwell that day about her whereabouts. She told him that Haiga had not yet come back from the farm.

Worried, Elder Bright rushed to the farm, where he discovered his wife’s lifeless body in a horrifying state. He immediately called his brothers, and together they reported the matter to the Nkrankwanta Police.

A police team from the Nkrankwanta District reportedly arrived at the scene around 11:00 p.m. and conveyed the body to the morgue for further examination and investigation.

It is alleged that the deceased may have been gruesomely murdered, as some witnesses who accompanied the police claimed she appeared to have been “slaughtered.”

The police have since launched a full investigation into the incident to determine the cause of death and bring the perpetrators to justice.
