The High Court has further reduced the bail of former National Service Authority (NSA) Executive Director, Osei Assibey Antwi, to GH¢120 million with two sureties, down from the previous GH¢630 million. The decision was handed down on Thursday, December 11.
The reduction follows a court application by Mr. Antwi’s legal team. He is facing trial on charges including stealing, money laundering, and causing financial loss to the state during his tenure as CEO of the NSA.
Originally, Mr. Antwi was granted bail of GH¢800 million, later lowered to GH¢630 million before Thursday’s revision. Under the new terms, the two sureties must each provide landed property valued at GH¢80 million.
Other conditions, including the seizure of his passport and his placement on the no-flight list, remain in effect.
Prosecutors opposed the bail reduction, citing the severity of the charges and potential sentences of up to 25 years. The defence argued that the previous bail amounts were unrealistic and effectively denied him the right to bail.
