Residents of Banka-Busuafise, a community near Ashalaja in the Ga South Municipality of the Greater Accra Region, are living in fear following a series of violent attacks that have claimed three lives within two weeks.
The incidents, believed to be linked to suspected landguard activities, have raised tensions, with many community members expressing serious concerns for their safety.
Gilbert Kwame Afekpe, Assembly Member for the Ashalaja Electoral Area, revealed that two victims were beheaded, with their bodies later discovered in an unfinished building.
In a separate incident, a Nigerian national who visited the area to inspect land was shot dead, bringing the death toll to three. Another person was recently stabbed and remains in critical condition at an undisclosed hospital.
“These killings are believed to be connected to alleged landguard activities in the area,” Mr. Afekpe said, warning that the violence is causing widespread fear and insecurity. He has appealed to the Ghana Police Service, particularly the Inspector-General of Police, to urgently intervene and restore calm.
Residents, including Veronica Amoh, expressed concern over the impact on daily life, noting that many parents are now hesitant to send their children to school due to safety fears.
The community is calling for immediate action to prevent further loss of life and restore security.
