Two persons have been rushed to the Bawku Presbyterian hospital after they were hit by a stray bullet at Sabongari a suburb of the Bawku municipality of the Upper east region.
Sources say, Zulka Salam, a 16 year-old student survived when he was hit by the stray bullet in the lower abdomen. Mohammed, tricycle rider was confirmed dead on arrival after he was hit in the head.
The issue believed to have been a misunderstanding on a piece of land which was earlier reported to the police.
The Divisional police command and other security agencies thus military, NIB etc have therefore asked the public to assist the police with any information in arresting these perpetrators and also asking the public not to relate this incident to long term conflict within the area.
Meanwhile, police have begun investigations into the shootings.
The police indicated that, the two persons hit by the bullet were just victims of the situations and are not related to the said land issues.
The body of the deceased has been conveyed to Bawku hospital for autopsy.
