Former New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential candidate Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has faced criticism for attributing the party’s loss in the 2024 elections to external factors rather than taking personal responsibility.
Dr. Yakubu Boamah, in a recent Facebook post, accused Dr. Bawumia of deflecting blame.
Dr. Bawumia had cited the Domestic Debt Exchange Programme (DDEP), the ELevy, internal disunity, and “arrogance of power” as reasons for the party’s defeat, claiming these issues eroded public trust.
However, Dr. Boamah countered that Dr. Bawumia was critical of the NPP’s economic policies during his time as head of the Economic Management Team.
“Bawumia is blaming everything and everybody except himself,” Dr. Boamah wrote. Analysts argue that the economic challenges under the NPP government were a significant factor in the party’s loss.
The criticism highlights increasing scrutiny of Dr. Bawumia’s role in the party’s economic management and raises questions about accountability and leadership
