Vice President Dr. Muhammadu Bawumia including other top officials in the New Patriotic Party attended the funeral of the late Lepowura Mohammed Nuru-Deen Jawula of the Kpembe Traditional Area to mourn with the bereaved family.
The late M.N.D Jawula was the chief of staff to Kpembewura (Lepowura) of the Kpembe Traditional Area.
The powerful entourage comprising of delegations from the Vice President of the Republic of Ghana, H.E Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and Member of Parliament for Damongo, Minister and caretaker Minister for Lands and Natural Resources and Trade and Industry respectively, Samuel Abu Jinapor, MDCEs for West Gonja and East Gonja respectively, the party in the region led by Secretary Mohammed Issah, Damongo and Salaga South constituency executives and other party officials.
Vice President Dr. Bawumia donated an amount of Fifty Thousand Ghana Cedis (Gh¢50,000.00), while Lawyer Abu Jinapor donated 20 bags of Rice, 2 Bags of Cassava, 2 Bags of Maize, 2 jellycan of cooking oil, 1 cow and Gh¢10,000.00 cash towards the performance of the funeral.
The Family was full of gratitude and appreciation whiles extending same to the Government and the NPP for the love shown at this sad moment of theirs.
A royal from the lepo gate of the Kpembe Traditional Area, the late Lepowura was a football administrator who served and rose through to high-profile ranks in the civil and political service of Ghana. He was DCE for Walewale (1979), then to Gambaga/Nalerigu between 1981 – 1983. Tolon (1989). Chairman of The Ghana Football Association (1997 – 2001).
He became Lepowura (Chief of Staff to the Kpembewura) in 2006. He died in service as a member of CAF Interclub committee and CAF/FIFA Match Commissioner supervising football matches on the African continent.
