Vice President Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia has paid tribute to the late Member of Parliament for Ejisu Constituency and Deputy Finance Minister, John Kumah, as he has been laid to rest.
The former Deputy Finance Minister painfully passed away at age 45 on March 7, 2024 after a short illness.
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer, Dr. Bawumia, in paying his tribute during the burial service of the late Mr. Kumah on Saturday, May 18, 2024, described his demise as a big blow to the country and the NPP.
According to Dr. Bawumia, Mr. Kumah was committed to Ghana’s development and spearheaded projects aimed at empowering the youth.
“With his exceptional intellectual capacity and drive, his initiatives focused on empowering the youth and forging a brighter future for Ghana’s next generation. His commitment to the national development program remains indelible and has left an enduring mark on our country’s trajectory,” he said.
On a personal note, the NPP flagbearer recounted how Kumah was someone who supported his presidential ambition.
“His sudden death in March has been a personal blow. Long before I decided to run for president, Hon. John Kumah was among the few party leaders and legislators to have publicly urged me to run and pledged his unending support. Through his public pledge, John supported me strongly, campaigning with me everywhere in the country when I finally announced my decision to context as flagbearer of the NPP.
“He desired to see me win the December presidential elections and I pray God would grant his desires for me and the party and the country”
