The New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) presidential candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, will address Ghanaian parents and students in a special live broadcast on Sunday, November 10, to unveil his vision for the future of the country’s education system and job creation.
Amidst concerns about the sustainability of Free Senior High School (Free SHS) and Free Technical and Vocational Education and Training (Free TVET), Dr. Bawumia is expected to emphasize his commitment to safeguarding these programs.
During the broadcast, Dr. Bawumia will present a comprehensive plan designed to ensure that every young Ghanaian has access to the knowledge and skills needed for a productive and fulfilling life.
His plan includes strategies to protect Free SHS and Free TVET, programs introduced by the current administration and widely lauded by parents and students across the country.
In his recent address to Ghana’s youth, Dr. Bawumia discussed the critical issue of unemployment, outlining an ambitious program to create four million jobs over the next eight years if elected in the upcoming December 7 election. This Sunday’s broadcast will shift focus to education, highlighting the role it plays in equipping young Ghanaians with the skills needed to enter the workforce.
To add depth to Dr. Bawumia’s vision, Ghana’s Minister for Education, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, will deliver an in-depth presentation on the NPP’s emphasis on STEM education.
He will also address the candidate’s commitment to expanding access to tertiary education, with assurances that financial barriers will no longer prevent students from pursuing higher education.
Dr. Bawumia aims to ensure that every SHS graduate who desires further education can achieve it, regardless of financial constraints.
The event, titled “Protecting Free SHS, Providing Skills for Jobs – The Bawumia Plan,” is set to engage parents and students directly, offering clarity on the NPP’s dedication to strengthening the nation’s education system from kindergarten through tertiary levels.
Dr. Bawumia’s message is expected to resonate widely, especially as Ghanaians look forward to hearing more about how his administration would build on existing programs and introduce new opportunities for young people.
