Former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has called on members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to cease internal attacks and instead focus on criticizing the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Addressing delegates at the 2025 NPP National Delegates Conference in Accra, Dr. Bawumia lamented the party’s tendency to engage in internal attacks, particularly during leadership contests.
Dr. Bawumia emphasized the importance of discipline within the party, stating that “an army that wants to win a battle must exercise discipline within its ranks.” He noted that internal attacks often provide ammunition for the party’s opponents, citing the 2024 campaign as an example.
The former Vice President urged party members to channel their energy towards exposing the NDC’s alleged attempts to undermine democracy and the rule of law. He specifically highlighted the NDC’s attempt to remove the Chief Justice and the violence that occurred during the recent Ablekuma election.
Dr. Bawumia also called on the President to bring the perpetrators of the violence to justice and warned that the NPP would prosecute them when it assumes office in 2029. He further urged the party leadership to maintain discipline and crack the whip to ensure a refreshed and united party.
