Bawumia wins NPP Super Delegates Congress

Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has emerged the winner of the New Patriotic Party's (NPP) Super Delegates Congress held on Saturday, August 26, 2023.

Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has emerged the winner of the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Super Delegates Congress held on Saturday, August 26, 2023.

The Super Delegate Congress was an election organized to select the top five of the ten candidates who picked up nomination forms to contest in the presidential primaries in November.

The election, which was held in 17 polling centers across the country, saw Dr. Bawumia come out on top with a total of 629 votes, representing 68.15%.

Kennedy Agyapong polled 132 votes, representing 14.30%, to finish second, while former Trade Minister Alan Kyerematen came third with 95 votes, representing 10.29%.

Former Minister for Food and Agriculture, Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto, also had 36 votes, representing 4.01%, to occupy the fourth position.

Two of the candidates, Boakye Agyarko and Francis Addai-Nimoh, got 9 votes each, which means the party would have to decide how to get the fifth person.
