Political Analyst William Owusu Ansah believes it would be disastrous for New Patriotic Party (NPP) delegates to vote for former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as their presidential candidate for the 2028 presidential election.
Mr Owusu Ansah stated that Dr. Bawumia has lost his relevance and lacks what it takes to win power for the NPP.
He called it suicidal and very unfortunate for delegates to elect him to lead the party. In his view, the NPP would only need to put in 10% effort to win the 2028 general elections if they elect Kennedy Agyapong.
Mr. Owusu Ansah believes Kennedy Agyapong has a superior candidate to all the others. “If they elect Kennedy Agyapong, they will only need to put in 10% more work. Kennedy Agyapong leading the NPP is a 100% done deal. Kennedy Agyapong is no match for President Mahama, whom we know won’t contest again. He is above Mahama. He has the upper hand over John Mahama. When you compare him to Julius Debrah, who is likely to lead the NDC, he is no match for Kennedy Agyapong. Asiedu Nketiah is also no match for Kennedy Agyapong.”
Speaking on Rainbow Radio, the analyst stressed that the NPP’s option cannot be Dr. Bawumia
He added, “Mind you, the 2028 elections are a combination of 1996 and 2000.”
Meanwhile, he criticised Dr. Bawumia for giving credence to comments made by Dr. Bryan Acheampong, stating that rebutting the comments was needless. Dr. Acheampong has been accused for allegedly blaming Dr. Bawumia of being the reason the party lost.
Dr. Bawumia publicly condemned what he described as “tribal and religious propaganda” being used against him in the lead-up to the party’s 2028 presidential primaries after the comments were made.
But Mr. Williams Owusu Ansah said, “Dr. Mahamudu should not have responded to the issue. It wasn’t the best at all. You had the right to respond, but it was needless for him to have responded.”
