The Eastern Regional leadership of the New Patriotic Party has said that Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s victory in the Presidential primary on Saturday, November 4 is a historic moment that has given the Dankwa-Dombo-Busia tradition a true meaning.
According to the leadership, Dr. Bawumia’s win has debunked the false accusation over the years that the NPP is an Akan-dominated party and would not elect a Northerner as a flagbearer to lead the party. The leadership noted that the NPP accommodates every individual irrespective of their religion, tribe, or creed.
In a press release, the leadership stated that the resounding victory obtained by the Vice President is a clear indication of the absolute confidence the rank and file of the party have in his competence and leadership abilities and the unwavering commitment to work with him to retain power in 2024.
“After elections, cooperation and unity become valuable commodities that must be secured at all cost. Therefore, as we acknowledge the uphill battle fought by Mr. Kennedy Agyapong, Dr. Akoto Owusu Afriyie and Ing. Francis Addai Nimo, we entreat their supporters to remain committed and loyal to the NPP and join the workforce of the party to maximize our chances of winning the 2024 general elections,” the statement stated.
The Eastern Region Communication Officer for the NPP, Evans Osei Yeboah Tsooboi, urged Ghanaians to exercise patience because, in the coming days, the unparalleled achievements of the NPP government in every sector of the economy will be known to Ghanaians using every medium available, and deliberate steps will be taken to debunk every propaganda and lie that threatens the electoral fortunes of the NPP.
He commended the Electoral Commission and the Ghana Police Service for their professionalism displayed during the election.
The vice president was also congratulated on his success, and the leadership has assured him that they will cooperate with him in the future election.
