A group of National Democratic Congress youth in Bono East Region has vowed to ‘crash’ a former regional secretary Mohammed Shamsudeen Ali over an attempt to keep in his custody a party vehicle after exiting the office.
According to a statement issued by the angry members, it cautioned the former secretary to, as a matter of urgency return the vehicle to the new regional party executives to aid their operations.
Concerned NDC Youth of Bono East Region. We will resist attempts by Mohammed Shamsudeen Ali, former Bono East Region former NDC secretary from stealing the party’s car.
On behalf of the above-mentioned group, I send warm regards to everyone reading this piece. We the concerned youth of NDC in the Bono East region have learnt with absurd disappointment the refusal of Mohammed Shamsudeen Ali to hand over the party’s car to the party. The cars which were distributed to the secretaries of newly created regions formed part of the logistical support that the region received from the party headquarters as well as the office of a then-presidential candidate, His Excellency John Dramani Mahama. Indeed, the offices of the regional chairman, secretary, organizer and youth organizer were all given cars to aid the work of the respective departments.
However, the former regional Secretary after losing the position in the recent regional elections has refused to hand over the car to the regional secretariat for use by the new regional secretary. He has disregarded the party’s directive to all out-gone party executives to hand over party properties to the current executives.
We find the conduct of the Former Regional secretary disrespectful to the authority of the party leadership and this is highly unacceptable. He was the regional secretary and should know better the position of the party’s constitution on such matters.
In fact, during his time as regional secretary, he supervised such handing over at the various constituencies when out-gone constituency chairmen had to hand over the Mahindra trucks to new chairmen. These precedence are enough grounds for the former to proceed on to do the needful even if a formal directive had not come from the general secretary of the party.
What is particularly intriguing in this issue is the manner in which the regional chairman has refused to stamp his authority to compel the former secretary to submit the car. The information we have indicates that, the regional chairman Mr Unas Owusu has not shown interest in the issue but chooses to supervise the arrest of Nkoranza South’s former chairman over a similar issue.
It is unclear what his reasons are for choosing to sit on the fence on a very important issue of this kind which has made it difficult for the new regional secretary to move around the region to perform his duties. What we can however conclude from the posture of the regional chairman on this matter is simple; he is colluding with the former secretary who once was his close confidant to confiscate the party car. He is deliberately avoiding the matter for it to die off so that his boy can keep the car for his personal use.
Consequently, we concerned youth of the party in the region is hereby sending a message to the former secretary that, we are going to use forcible means to retrieve the car after this letter has gotten to him. We are sending a very strong warning to him that, enough is enough! We won’t allow him to use the car in peace as long as we are alive. We are going all out with every means possible to retrieve the car from him to be handed over to the party without further delays.
And to our national leadership at the national level, we are by this serving notice that if they don’t want to hear news of a brutal encounter on this matter, then they should act fast. We don’t think Mohammed Shamsudeen Ali is bigger than the party to be watched on to steal the party car. They should as a matter of urgency order Shamsudeen to hand over the car to the party without further delays.
Until then, he should prepare himself to face us!
Long live NDC!
