Nana Afrah Sika Mensah, Deputy Coordinator at the Free Senior High School (SHS) Secretariat, believes that the benefits of the New Patriotic Party government’s Free Senior High School education policy outweigh the challenges.
Speaking on Citi FM, she urged that citizens pay much attention to the benefits of the policy because it has given most underprivileged children the opportunity to have access to quality education.
“We’ve given people access to education. People from the less endowed communities or people who are less privileged in the communities had it not been for Free SHS, they would not get the opportunities to foot bills for their wards,” Nana Afrah Sika said.
She emphasised that, even though the secretariat is facing challenges such as a food shortage in some schools, its benefits outweigh the drawbacks.
“Free SHS has helped us as a country and then maybe had it not been the Free SHS people like my siblings out there wouldn’t get access to quality education. So even though we have challenges, we should rather make the positives outweigh the challenges we are facing as a secretariat”, she added.
