Ghanaian Veteran Musician, Danso Abiam, born David Danso Amofa is a Hip-life singer and Rapper who has been in the music industry for a long time.
Danso Abiam is a household name in the Ghanaian musical airwaves. He was born on 19th March, 1982 in Nigeria but he naturally comes from Akyem Abomosu in the Eastern Region of Ghana.
He began the major part of his musical career in Tema after he moved to Tema from Kwahu in the Eastern Region, when he was about seven (7) years old.
He identified his musical abilities when he completed High school in 1995. Danso Abiam and his friend known as “Before” teamed up and began a group called Abranee. He and his colleagues decided to set up a music studio since there was only one music studio called i3 in Tema to nature talents in the Tema Metropolis.
They later expanded their wings and acquired a store at Tema community 4 and formed a record label called Don’s Mic Entertainment in which he was the leader of the team.
The label first signed a music act called Exile and later signed Yaa Pono which they subsequently produced his first song.
Danso Abiam together with team and colleague assisted the likes of Sarkodie, D-Cryme, Stay Jay, Keche, Yaa Pono, Ruff and Smooth and a host of others. He produced Ruff and Smooth’s hit song “Swagger” in 2009.
Through the benevolent direction he chose to help others arise, he began recording his own songs. He released his first single with Sarkodie dubbed “Low and high” but did not receive the popularity it needed. He later released another song dubbed “Belly Dancer” with Sarkodie which later took over airwaves in the country.
Danso Abiam is a staunch singer but also a good rapper. He also taught Yaa Pono, Keche Andrews and Joshua singing. Keche Andrew was initially a rapper who through him and his team’s ideas, overturned the dice and groomed Keche Andrews into singing and converted Keche Joshua into rapping because Andrews had a good voice for singing.
The “Farmer” crooner, was also a key element in Eno Barony’s musical journey since she comes from a Christian home and her father’s resistance to prevent her from doing music.
“We don’t want to talk more often. We have brought up a lot of musical talents. The likes of Sarkodie, Guru, Keche, Yaa Pono, Stay Jay and D.cryme. I’m sure you know Eno Barony, we brought Eno. It took my intervention for Eno Barony to do music. We brought her, we all know her background as someone from a Christian home, her father is a Pastor and he was always against the desire to do music but we realized there was something in her”, he quoted.
Danso Abiam hasn’t given up on his passion for music. He aims to push other music acts even if he chooses not to do music anymore, he will continue to push other acts. He was also signed to Sound Masters for two years. He was not able to continue with Sound Masters due to an impending travelling he was supposed to embark on.
Danso Abiam is currently residing in the UK. He has hinted of setting up a new record label in Nkawkaw.
