The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Birim North, Hakeem Abdul Antwi, has handed over a brand new Toyota Hilux pick-up vehicle to the Birim North District Assembly at New Abirem.
The vehicle, valued at thousands of Ghana Cedis, was procured through the District’s Internally Generated Fund (IGF) to enhance effective monitoring and supervision of developmental projects in the district.
Handing over the keys to the District Coordinating Director, Mark Addo, at a short ceremony at the Abirem Durbar Grounds, he said the vehicle will help solve transportation challenges facing the Assembly and improve field work.
He said the vast nature of the district and the deplorable state of some roads had made it difficult for officers to effectively monitor projects, hence the need to add to the Assembly’s fleet.
“This car is for work. It will help our engineers, planners, and monitoring teams to move to project sites quickly and ensure value for money. We want every project to be executed to specification and on time,” the DCE stated.
Mr. Hakeem assured that his administration will continue to resource all departments of the Assembly to deliver quality services to the people of Birim North.
Receiving the vehicle, the Coordinating Director thanked the DCE and the government for the support and promised that the vehicle will be put to good use and properly maintained.
He said the new pick-up will enhance revenue mobilization, inspection of development projects, and administrative work across the district.
Present at the ceremony were heads of departments, Assembly Members, and staff of the Birim North District Assembly.
