Bono East Regional Police Commander DCOP Asumadu Okyere-Darko has charged Officers of the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) to always discharge their duties diligently.

He also charged them to do their possible best to ensure that people who report cases to their stations get justice in order to strengthen the Citizenry’s confidence in the Ghana Police service.

He gave this advice in Techiman when he opened a two (2) day training workshop for DOVVSU Personnel drawn from the Bono East, Bono and Ahafo regions on “child friendly policing and handling victims/survivors of domestic violence”.

Speaking to Asta Fm, Mrs. Margaret Ofosuhene Marfo, Assistant Director one (1) at the Bono East Regional Coordinating Council that organized the programme on behalf of the Regional Minister Hon. Kwasi Adu Gyan was grateful to United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) for sponsoring the campaign against Sexual and Gender Based Violence (SGBV) which has become a canker in the society.

For her part, ASP Beatrice Korsah Bono regional DOVVSU Coordinator urged the Police personnel to always collaborate with other Stakeholders to put the Domestic Violence Act of Ghana to proper use in order to punish perpetrators of crimes against children and women.
