The Ghana Police Service in the Bono East Region has seized 397 slabs of suspected cannabis concealed in charcoal bags following the arrest of a 48-year-old tricycle rider in Techiman.

According to the Bono East Regional Police Command, the suspect, identified as Robert Tannor, was arrested on March 8, 2026, at about 2:00 p.m. after a road accident involving an unregistered “aboboyaa” (Motor King tricycle) he was riding.

Police said the tricycle, which was transporting 14 bags of charcoal, crashed into a stationary Kia Rhino truck near the Techiman Methodist Park.

Officers who responded to the accident discovered compressed slabs of suspected cannabis hidden inside the charcoal bags. A total of 397 slabs were retrieved from the scene.

The suspect sustained severe leg injuries during the accident and was rushed to the Holy Family Hospital for treatment, where he has been placed under police guard.

Meanwhile, police say the Kia Rhino truck involved in the crash was driven away from the scene. Authorities are appealing to the public to assist in tracing the driver to support ongoing investigations.
