The Apiate Support Fund Committee has on Monday, 21st March, 2022 received donations from Bulk Oil Storage and Transport Company Limited (BOST) and the Kuntunse congregation of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana.
The two donors took turns to present their quota of Support to the Apiate Support Fund with a cheque of 100,000 Ghana Cedis from BOST and a 5,000 cedis cheque from the Kuntunse Presby Congregation.
Speaking on behalf of the team from BOST, Mr. Moses Mensah Asem, the Deputy Managing Director said as an organisation that concerns itself with a lot of Corporate Social Responsibility, the incident at Apiate beckoned them to give their widow’s mite to compliment government’s efforts in restoring to normalcy, the lives and livelihoods of the people involved.
“When we heard and saw what happened at Apiate, the destruction of lives and properties, BOST was really moved as an organisation that is so much concerned about CSR and so decided to present this to support the fund and government”
He said considering the fact that their scope of operations covers the entire country, any loss of life is a loss to BOST, adding that they deem it a privilege to be part of the contributors of this worthy cause of bringing hope and relief to the people.
Madam Florence Amponsah, a Presbyter with the Kuntunse Presbyterian Church in her submission on behalf of their head Pastor, Rev. Abraham Opoku Baaffour said the incident at Appiatse touched them as a church and as according to their faith they decided to solicit funds from Pastors and members of the church to support the people of Apiate.
To the Presbyterian team, the Chairman of the Apiate Support Fund Committee, Rev. Dr. Joyce Rosalind Aryee thanked them saying ” I am so impressed with what you have done, and as per our faith, God is pleased with amounts that comes from the heart and not the quantum of it. We are very happy with your contribution and we are grateful”
She hoped that this will be a call to all other Churches to also join and donate the little they can to support the fund and help bring back the livelihoods of the people of Apiate, while rebuilding their green, sustainable and model community.
Addressing the team from BOST she assured that their contribution will be put to the rightful use, reiterating that to ensure, accountability, transparency and professional disbursement of the monies collected, the Committee is working collaboratively with KPMG, a well acknowledged auditing company in Ghana.
