President John Dramani Mahama has appointed Brigadier General Glover Ashong Annan as the new Commissioner of the Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA).
The announcement was made by the President’s Spokesperson and Minister of State, Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu (MP).
Brig. Gen. Annan, a highly regarded figure within the Ghana Army, is expected to bring a fresh perspective and renewed vigour to the Customs Division. In a press statement released on Sunday, Hon. Kwakye Ofosu described the new Commissioner as “a well-respected, dedicated, principled, and patriotic Commissioned Officer.”
He further stated that Brig. Gen. Annan is tasked with “resetting the Customs Division and supporting the Ghana Revenue Authority to meet its targets as we work towards fixing the economy.”
His military background is expected to bring a focus on discipline and efficiency to the Customs Division, an area critical to boosting government revenue.
The appointment signals a renewed focus on economic stability and revenue generation. With the Ghanaian economy facing challenges, the President believes a strong and effective Customs Division is essential.
The President also extended his gratitude to the outgoing Commissioner, Brigadier General Ziblim Ayorrogo, “for his service to the Customs Division and Ghana.”
