The President of the Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association (GRNMA), Mrs. Perpetual Ofori-Ampofo, has called on managers of institutions, departments and schools to bring back the strict adherence to the Covid-19 safety protocols.
According to her, the surge in Covid-19 cases recently in Ghana requires robust action to help curtail the spread adding that there are programmes by GRNMA and the Ghana Medical Association (GMA) to deploy over 2000 vaccination champions to encourage Ghanaians to take their jabs.
Mrs. Ofori-Ampofo said both the GRNMA and GMA are worried about the increase in cases and therefore called on all Ghanaians to use the nose mask, observe social distancing and hand hygiene etiquette.
“We therefore want to state that the preventive protocols are still necessary and vital in reducing the spread of Covid-19 infections among Ghanaians,” she stated
Speaking at the sidelines of ‘GRNMA and GMA Perspectives on Addressing Covid-19 Vaccine Hesitancy in Ghana,’ she advised Ghanaians to regularly wear facemask especially in an enclose areas such as offices, workplaces, schools, crowded places such as sports stadiums, funerals and cinemas to avoid infections.
The President said managers and security officers in these enclose areas must put measures in place to enforce these safety protocols.
She said the government and private sector players must continue to support citizens and institutions with these facilities at vantage points to ensure continuous washing of hands with soap under running water.
Mrs. Ofori-Ampofo rallies Ghanaians to find the need for the use of hand sanitizer as necessary and encouraged all eligible citizens to be vaccinated to ensure Ghana does not seen surges in Covid-19 cases again.
Covid-19 active cases as at June 20, 2022 was 1,255, placing the total confirmed cases in Ghana at 163,666 with 334 new cases, 1,446 deaths and 160,965 recoveries or discharges.
